Why is Healing Hands special? We are a small practice in Charleston, SC of massage therapists with experience working on all types of bodies. By request, you can see the same therapist each time. Over time, your therapist will get better and better at identifying and relieving your problem areas, remembering where you need a little extra attention. Since the owner Rachel is a massage therapist, she understands the importance of the therapists being happy in their environment, in order to provide you with the best, personalized massage and customer service.
Our rates are competitive, and if you want to make massage a lifestyle, we offer discount packages to make it easier to fit into your budget. Our studio is in West Ashley on Highway 61 in the Pierpont area, convenient to 526 and the historic gardens. We also provide outcalls for women, couples, and events in the Charleston area.
We have services offered by pricier spas, including aromatherapy, salt scrubs and body wraps. Are you looking to try something new and different? Then ask about incorporating Reiki or shiatsu into your session. Short on time? Then try a chair massage for your back, neck, and shoulders.
Our practitioners are caring and thorough, and are here to listen to and meet your needs. Please let us know how we may best serve you.
Why is Taking Care of Yourself More Important Today?
Energy follows thought, so now more than ever, we need to stay positive. Most of us have many things to be grateful for: our families, our pets, our homes, good food, clean water, and our health. Some of us have only a few. But even if there is just one thing in your heart for which you truly feel grateful, now is the time to focus on that one thing, and to feel as grateful as you find possible. Now is the time to take care of yourself, and to make yourself a priority, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Once considered a luxury by most, massage therapy is embraced as a necessity by many who find that its benefits improve their health and their lives. First and foremost, massage reduces stress, and with it the myriad of discomforts that go with it. Pain, fuzzy thinking, lack of sleep, and indigestion are all alleviated by massage. If we feel out of kilter in our lives, massage can help our bodies restore the balance. If it all seems overwhelming, just having something nice to look forward to can make all the difference in the world.
Massage causes profound psychological and physiological changes. When we are stressed, our bodies are in “fight or flight” mode, and our sympathetic nervous system (SNS) is in charge. The SNS increases our heart rate and our breathing, slows our digestion, and makes it harder to think. We have trouble resting, and our bodies are slow to heal and repair. Massage helps to turn off this crisis response and to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system. Our heart rate slows. Our blood pressure normalizes. Our breathing slows and deepens. Our bodies go into “rest and digest” mode, where we can relax and start healing ourselves.
Whatever you do, take time for yourself today, whether it be with a massage, exercise, yoga, a daily walk, a long bath, or whatever it is that feels good and healing to you. You may find that not only do you feel better in those moments, but you have more energy for the things that you have to do. Your health will thank you.
